Liverpool in July: Four pre-season fixtures as Klopp aims for a huge comeback next season

The 2022-23 season was a major disappointment for Liverpool as they failed to perform well in the Premier League as well as in Europe.

A disastrous start to the new campaign saw them winning only two of their first eight league matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s men saw some improvement as the season progressed, particularly in April and May when they went on a seven-game winning streak.

However, it was too late by then and the Reds ultimately had to settle for a fifth-placed finish.

The Merseyside giants also endured massive disappointment in the Champions League, with Real Madrid inflicting a humiliating 6-2 aggregate defeat in the round of 16 to dump them out of the tournament.

They also couldn’t find any consolation in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, exiting the two domestic competitions in the fourth round.

Jurgen Klopp will now be aiming to make a big comeback next term by strengthening his squad in the current Premier League transfer window.

They have already made two shrewd signings in Alex Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai but are expected to bring in more reinforcements before the transfer deadline.

Liverpool pre-season fixtures

The Reds stars will return to action this month as they travel to Germany to play their first pre-season friendly on July 19 against Karlsruher SC at the BBBank Wildpark.

They will then face Greuther Furth on July 24 before coming up against Leicester City at the National Stadium.

The Reds will conclude their pre-season after their clash with Bayern Munich on August 2 in Singapore.
