Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold to miss Wolves trip with hamstring injury

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will be absent from the squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow due to a hamstring injury.

The Liverpool vice-captain sustained the injury during the latter stages of their impressive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in their last outing.

Alexander-Arnold was provided with a two-week recovery timeframe and participated in an individual training session on Thursday.

However, Liverpool’s medical staff will not rush his return to action, with games scheduled every midweek and weekend leading up to the October international break.

Consequently, Joe Gomez will likely fill the void at right-back.

Manager Jurgen Klopp addressed Alexander-Arnold’s injury during his pre-match press conference, stating (via Liverpool’s official website): “There is no concern. He is not available. We knew that before.

“He didn’t train with the team once yet and will take a little bit. It is not the worst hamstring injury you can have, but it’s a hamstring injury, and they barely heal in two weeks – and this one didn’t either.

“As he is running already, we hope he can start ball work early next week, and then we will see and go from there.”

Despite Alexander-Arnold’s absence, Klopp shared positive updates regarding the squad. Ibrahima Konate and Darwin Nunez will be available for the upcoming clash at Molineux.

Thiago Alcantara is progressing well in his recovery, although the Wolves game will come too soon for his return to action.

Liverpool fans will undoubtedly miss Alexander-Arnold and his dynamic presence on the field but can take solace in the impending return of key players.

The Reds will be without captain Virgil van Dijk, who is serving an additional one-game suspension for directing inappropriate language at officials following his sending-off against Newcastle United.
