Liverpool would have to pay an absolute fortune to sign Ajax defender

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Jorrel Hato who is currently on the books of Ajax. 

However, the Reds might have to pay an absolute fortune to secure the services of the 18-year-old. 

According to journalist Suleyman Ozturk, any potential suitor will have to pay around €100 million for the talented youngster. 

Hato has shown an incredible development in the last few years, and he has now become a mainstay in the Ajax defence. 

The Dutch footballer has started all 25 Eredivisie matches this season, with three goal contributions to his name. 

He primarily plays as a centre-back but can also be used as a left-back. 

Liverpool are in the market for a quality young defender who can replace Joel Matip in the long term. 

But they are unlikely to pay €100m for Hato who has a lot of potential but is still unproven in a top football league. 

Blockbuster FA Cup clash on Sunday 

Liverpool beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final last month to claim the first piece of silverware in 2023-24. 

But they are also in the hunt for the FA Cup, Europa League and the Premier League. 

Liverpool’s remaining fixtures this season will see them take on the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

But one of their most difficult opponents will be Manchester United, who they will face on Sunday in the FA Cup quarter finals. 

The Reds are the team in form as they are unbeaten in their previous eight matches across all tournaments. 

But United are expected to give their bitter rivals a tough competition at Old Trafford.
