Premier League reveal December fixture schedule for TV coverage

The Premier League has revealed several eye-catching changes to the festive period calendar, including a Christmas Eve fixture.

Chelsea will travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 24 in a groundbreaking encounter that has been met with a backlash by aggrieved supporters.

This will be the first match to be played on Christmas Eve since 1995, and fans are unhappy they are being forced to travel so close to the festive period.

The Boxing Day fixtures feature Burnley hosting Liverpool and Manchester United taking on Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United will also be in action on Boxing Day, taking on Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park, followed by two other fixtures scheduled for 3.00 pm.

New Year’s Eve features Fulham vs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth, while Liverpool vs Newcastle represents the only fixture scheduled for New Year’s Day.

This revised Premier League fixture schedule ensures that a match will be played every day from December 21 to January 2, with the exceptions of Christmas Day and December 29.

Of all the exciting matches, the showdown between Liverpool and Arsenal on December 23, which is set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports, is undoubtedly the blockbuster encounter of the holiday season.

Manchester City will have only one fixture scheduled for December 27 when they take on Everton due to their participation in the Club World Cup tournament, which concludes on December 22.
