The newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool will return to action this Sunday when they lock horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds won their 20th top-flight title with a 5-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, while the Londoners thrashed Djurgarden 4-1 in the Europa Conference League.
Match Preview
Liverpool have been excellent throughout this campaign in the Premier League.
Nobody thought they would be in the title race after appointing a new manager in Arne Slot. But they defied everyone’s expectations by consistently performing well under the Dutch boss.
Tottenham Hotspur aimed to delay their coronation last weekend, and appeared to be succeeding when Dominic Solanke netted an early goal.
But the Reds responded in a stunning fashion as Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo all scored to put them 3-1 ahead by half-time.
Mohamed Salah added another in the second-half before an own-goal from Destiny Udogie sealed an emphatic victory for the hosts.
They will now go head-to-head with Chelsea, who haven’t been very convincing this campaign but will enter Sunday’s fixture on the back of a three-game winning run.
Their most recent success came in the Europa Conference League, where they crushed Djurgarden 4-1 in the away leg of their semi-final tie.
Team News
Chelsea have plenty of injury woes this weekend. Wesley Fofana, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Aaron Anselmino will all be missing due to fitness issues.
Liverpool news, on the other hand, is very positive for their supporters, as Joe Gomez will be their sole absentee due to a hamstring issue. Conor Bradley is set to train with the team and could be involved on Sunday.
