Tottenham confident of keeping Postecoglou amid Liverpool interest

Tottenham Hotspur are not worried about manager Ange Postecoglou leaving them for Liverpool, according to The Telegraph.

Since Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced that he’d leave the Reds this summer, they have been linked with a plethora of names to fill the role.

One of the shortlisted names on Liverpool’s radar is Postecoglou, who has impressed in his first campaign in the Premier League.

The Australian has a clear attacking philosophy that he does not drop for any reason, and he has garnered attention with his style and charisma.

Despite the attention from admirers, Spurs do not expect Postecoglou to leave this summer. They believe he will stay and build on his first season in the Premier League.

Firstly, Postecoglou signed a four-year deal when he joined the North London side this summer, and Spurs believe he will not opt out so soon. 

His deal also includes wage increments and potential bonuses to incentivise him to stay.

There will be rewards for the 58-year-old if he can lead Spurs into the Champions League next season. The former Celtic boss will back himself to achieve that feat after Spurs re-entered fourth place on the table following a win over Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Interestingly, Postecoglou is a Liverpool fan, and while the Merseyside club may think it could play a massive role in swaying him, Tottenham believe that he is committed to his role.

Postecoglou has spoken about staying at Spurs long-term. He wants to help Spurs end their drought that has seen them trophyless since 2008.

Those dreams can’t be achieved this season, but the Tottenham manager will be looking forward to assembling a top squad that can break their barren spell.

Tottenham’s stance is one of measured assurance. They recognise the appeal of a potential Liverpool offer, but their faith in Postecoglou’s passion, contractual obligations, and shared ambition remains unshaken.
